Rape claims dirty tricks – Kodwa

-

Acting ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa has denied with contempt allegations that he raped a woman, describing the claim as a dirty tricks campaign.

Kodwa said in a statement on Sunday he was seeking legal advice.

He said the letter sent to the secretary-general of the ANC from a woman claiming Kodwa had raped her was “the most grotesque attack on me and my reputation”.

TimesLIVE reported on Saturday that a woman was allegedly raped at a private function.

ANC deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte confirmed the rape allegation had been made to the office of secretarygeneral Ace Magashule.

She said the person concerned had denied the allegations.

Duarte said the ANC had advised the accuser to take the rape allegations to the police.

“We have advised the young lady to go to the police because the matter she is raising requires thorough investigation. The ANC does not have the capacity to do that kind of thing.”

Kodwa said on Sunday he refused to “succumb to extortion and blackmail”.

African Global Operations (formerly Bosasa) director Papa Leshabane says, meanwhile, that he does not want to get involved in the rape accusation against his friend Kodwa, which allegedly took place at an apartment rented by him.

Leshabane said on Sunday he was not there when the alleged incident happened.

Kodwa’s accuser said in her letter the incident took place in April 2018 when she had visited Leshabane at an apartment at the Michelangelo Hotel.

Leshabane confirmed he knew both Kodwa and his accuser.
