Ward 2 voters show support for the DA
Well done, the voters in Ward 2.
The result of the by-election on March 6 confirms a large majority of the Port Elizabeth electorate still believes the DA to be the only realistic alternative to the ANC.
The voters are sick and tired of an ANC that promises but never delivers.
They understand the ANC “pro-poor” policy is nothing more than a sad result of its widespread neglect, corruption and incompetence.
Recent horror stories in the media of the Guptas, state capture and Eskom reinforced this perception.
Equally important there was little support for the smaller political parties in the by-election.
The belief that proportional representation results in a more democratic representation is nonsense.
Historically, small independent factions have never been able to assert any influence in the wider SA political spectrum.
At best they only provide sheltered employment for a few privileged members.
This is why the ANC, Cosatu and the SACP remain political partners even though there are widespread differences among them.
In May please do not waste your vote on any of the host of small opposition parties.
