KIND SERVICE This man, pictured above, is helping my neighbour fix this meter which broke last year in October. This man is unemployed and he only asked R60. We have been living under the control of mosquito zone in Duka street, Kwanoxolo.

FALSE PROPHETS What I saw on SABC 1’s

Cutting Edge on Tuesday leaves much to be desired. These cult churches are making a mockery of Christianity and make our people look like fools. What worries me is black people are using the same tactics our colonisers used to scare our people about the stories of going to hell if you are a non-believer. People say the pastor who apparently resurrected a man after he had been dead for three days is making himself look like Jesus Christ. These so-called pastors are running milliondollar businesses, milking our people, especially the poor, by giving them false hope. In my opinion, I think something has to be done urgently to stop this craziness.

FOOT IN EACH CAMP (“Pass course first”, March 14) Good response from Reader. Wise man going for PhD but typically refers to “decolonisation” – a case of two identities when it is convenient. BRUNO

TAXI INDUSTRY STUCK Metered taxi history. Dear Ian, please let me educate you, the metered taxi is not history – they are still operating until the transportation department pull their fingers out of their @#$%$#@ and properly regulate the industry.

LUNGISA MUST PAY Punishment must fit the crime! (NMB ANC councillor) Andile Lungisa’s lawyer says he deserves only a suspended sentence as “It was only one strike” when he violently assaulted (DA councillor) Rayno Kayser. Would advocate (Tembeka) Ngcukaitobi recommend the same leniency to someone who fired only one bullet in a similarly unprovoked attack?

(Jacob) Zuma and

Lungisa. The best comparison between these two is one is a convicted criminal and the other is awaiting conviction. If there is any justice left in SA, they should both end up in prison. SANDY

POPULATION PROBLEM Hamilton Peterson, firstly you’ve forgotten the wars of displacement, enslavement and land grabbing between African tribes before any European set foot in Africa, and secondly having one male with five children from three woman and each woman then having five children from three men makes the population too large to supply land, jobs and water to everyone. Stop blaming whites for all your problems and have a Chinese rethink on population curbing.

MAKHANDA MADNESS The hits just keep on coming for Makhanda. Now Eskom is cutting the lights for 14 hours a day. At least you don’t need power to put up the new name signs.

POWER PLAY Eskom: from stage two to four within four hours? And all the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put

Eskom together again! They didn’t get what they wanted, so we shed again.

GATVOL, YET AGAIN

SARS JOB ON HOLD Long-serving and most able civil servant Mark Kingon has had his three-month contract as acting SARS commissioner extended for the fourth time to the end of June. Why? Are we looking for yet another useless cadre for this vital post.

MORE OF COLUMNIST How insightful are Peter Bruce’s columns. We need to hear what he is saying, for example in his excellent recent column about what is happening with Eskom, where the ineptitude never ends. Please give us more.

ISOBEL

FOOD FOR THOUGHT (ANC obfuscates shortfall in delivery, March 15). Just as well three giant agribusinesses control more than 90% of agriculture in general and that a few fertiliser companies and retail outlets completely dominate the agricultural economy, otherwise the country would starve. Take heed of the starving masses in Africa and question why – it is not just drought. Food for thought.
