Hello dolls,
Here’s to hoping you’re not allowing load-shedding to dim the lights of your party life. As worrying as the thought of having the lights and music go off while you dance your socks off in a club might be, we stagger on and hope for the best.
Luckily, there was no nighttime partying for this gossip girl in the past week.
I was lucky to squeeze into The Herald Cooking Masterclass last Thursday and, oh my word, were those little Vietnamese rice-paper rolls we made under the guidance of chef Lynette Steffens yummy.
Thank goodness the power was on that night at Capsicum Culinary Studio in Newton Park because even if you can cook without it (if you have gas, that is) how do you keep the white and rosé wine from Three Peaks nicely chilled if your fridge is off?
If you weren’t there, folks, you’ve probably missed out on a chance to book for the other classes as they are now sold out – seems PE peeps love the thought of learning how to make Thai, Indian, Chinese and French food.
Fact remains, especially with this hectic Stage 4 loadshedding, my favourite thing to make for supper is – probably always will be – a restaurant reservation!
In my quest for some predusk fun, I headed to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for the Absa Premiership fixture between the Chilli Boys and Highlands Park on Sunday.
Although I spent more time eyeing the audience, hoping to spot some shenanigans, I still managed to witness that 1-1 draw between the two teams.
It might be that Skinnerbek does not show up at the stadium to support Chippa United enough, but I have hardly ever witnessed an outright win for our favourite team and my hopes were raised when Lerato Manzini scored to catch up with Highlands Park.
Rather a draw than a loss, but you can’t blame a girl for hoping for more.
Anyhoo, Skinners spotted playwright Xabiso Zweni supporting the Chilli Boys.
While he likes to call himself the Prince of Theatre (I do not disagree), Skinners prefers to call him the ladies’ man as he is quite friendly with the opposite gender . . . And, as expected, the man was snapping selfies with some ladies (and a gent) when he wasn’t cheering the Chilli Boys on.
