EP club rugby gets some fizz

-

The Eastern Province Rugby Union has received a significant boost with a sponsorship for the Super League.

A leader in the carbonated soft drinks industry, Twizza, has come on board to support Eastern Province club rugby in a three-year agreement.

“We at the Eastern Province Rugby Union are very excited about this sponsorship with one of the leading brands in South Africa,” EPRU president Andre Rademan said.

“We are at a critical juncture in rugby in the province, with the development of the game from the grassroots upwards being of utmost importance.

“We are privileged in this region to have some of the strongest and most active club structures in the country.

“Club rugby is therefore key in ensuring that we continue to produce quality players like we have done in the past.

“In order for us to achieve these targets and to see the game reach greater heights, the involvement of private-sector partners remains a key factor.

“To partner up with and receive an injection from a premier brand such as Twizza bodes well for the future of rugby in this region, which is so rich in talent.

“We look forward to walking this journey for the next three years, and potentially beyond, with Twizza – also a proudly Eastern Cape product.”

The Twizza Super League title sponsor is happy to lead the process of local business supporting local sporting talent.

“Twizza is South Africa’s first official ‘Proudly South African’ carbonated soft drink,” Twizza CEO Ken Clarke said.

“Being homegrown and produced in South Africa, we pride ourselves on providing the consumer with an authentic taste experience that rivals the global brands.

“As a brand we’ve made the decision to support Eastern Province club rugby and be the official sponsor of the Twizza Super League.

“The prestigious club rugby tournament provides an excellent platform for us to further entrench our association with local communities in SA and more specifically in the Eastern Province, our home ground, while creating awareness of the Twizza product range.

“The Twizza Super League will not only provide a showcase of our local rugby talent but will also provide the perfect opportunity for consumers to experience the Twizza brand.”

The partnership between Twizza and the Eastern Province Rugby Union was celebrated at a launch in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
