Be Bold. Be Courageous. Be Frivolous. Be Happy. Be Healthy. Be Powerful. On Saturday May 4, a wave of grey shirts worn by thousands of women, united in their strength as women, will move from Pollok Beach through the streets of Summerstrand. Running, walking and laughing is part of the beauty of the SPAR Women’s Challenge. Once again we invite you to come and join us in a spirit of family and female camaraderie. Whether you are an active runner, or just out for a leisurely 5km jog, come and join the fun. Come and be part of the first leg of one of South Africa’s most iconic races where many of the country’s leading long distance runners will be vying for points in the SPAR Grand Prix Series. The joy of sharing exercise, a healthy lifestyle and time with friends can help to lift you up above the drudgery of everyday living. Last year, we at SPAR Eastern Cape launched our STOP Plastic campaign in an effort to change mindsets, change how people think and how they use plastic. Apart from the fact that by September 2018 more than 3 million fewer plastic bags had been released into society, the campaign had a huge effect in creating awareness. Since then many other corporates have been mobilised into changing their mindsets. And being part of the Women’s Challenge will shout out loud that YOU are part of this wave. This year too, your involvement in the Women’s Challenge will align you to support organisations like Sanitary Sista’s which support many young women who are unable to afford sanitary protection. And so this year as we celebrate our 26th year in the Eastern Cape, we thank you for your support. Enjoy the day!
