ANC DOING RIGHT THING AT LAST?

Andile Lungisa’s days as a free man are numbered as it can’t be long now until he is sent to serve out his jail sentence. He and our mayor have done far too much damage to NMB so now it should be “one down and one to go!”

CYRIL FINALLY FINDS HIS VOICE

It is rather a pity that our president eventually, only after much pressure, has made himself heard against gender violence. It is about time he started to not only decry but also take positive actions against violence and murder of civilians and farmers. He has up to now done nothing to stem this barbaric wave that is sweeping our country.

TRAFFIC FINE DEBACLE

Like many other PE citizens we have received numerous speeding fines allegedly in Uitenhage where I haven’t been to in over eight years. My letter explaining this went unanswered and I have now been summoned to appear in the Uitenhage municipal court. Any ideas how to avoid this costly exercise?

TATA MA CHANCE, SHARE MILLIONS

CE’s advice on Lottery wins makes so much sense (The Herald 16/9/19). Spread it around rather, what can one winner do with R141m? So much poverty out there.

SHOCKED BY LITTER AT ADDO

Disappointed at the shocking amount of litter on the roads and lookout spots in Addo Park left behind by South Africans during free week. I can live with the bumpy roads. It gives the tourists a better Africa feel.

HELP SOWETO-ON-SEA RESIDENTS

Have you ever visited Soweto-On-Sea and observed how dirty it is? Have you ever visited an area in Soweto-On-Sea which is affectionately known as SS? What have these residents done that they don’t deserve to have proper RDP houses and constructed roads? The walls of their RDP houses are full of big cracks. There are families who lost their houses through fire and lost most of their belongings and never received any help such as temporary structures with the aid of the Ward 27 councillor. These residents are in a dire straits and have been knocking at the mayor’s office and the office of the MEC for human settlements to come and pay a visit to see what is going on in this area. The residents have completely lost hope from the councillor’s office as well as her ward committee members.

CLEAR VIEW OF DIRTY CITY

Complaints every day and justifiably so regarding the disgraceful state of PE. Yet, there is a fencing frenzy on the go with clear-view fencing going up all over town. Why, what for, what’s the objective? Someone has scored a mega contract. Aah, those tenders! Wait a minute, maybe it’s to catch all the litter blowing around town. You didn’t think of that did you!

DO SOMETHING ABOUT AREA

I have lived in Extension 32 in Bethelsdorp for exactly 27 years and nothing has been done in Arrowgrass Crescent. We asked our councillor numerous times to clean up this open field behind our homes near the vlei opposite a funeral home and erect a playground and gym for the kids. We asked for a bright light to be put on that vlei area and a bridge but nothing has been done. The school children must cross that vlei when it’s raining and it is very dangerous. Please hear our cries.

SABC KEEPS FANS IN DARK

Editorial comment. How can you say “the nation will watch” when the SABC is not even broadcasting [rugby] on TV, delayed or live on radio? It would be interesting to know how many people will actually be able to watch live. SABC very sad. Will radio broadcast really be that exorbitant?
