Sad farewell to boutique’s beloved ‘Skhumba’
Don Marco is honoured to take a moment to recall our colleague, friend and brand ambassador, Vuyokazi (Skhumba) Ngalo, also affectionately known as Margaret or Margie to her team.
Hers is a life that should be commemorated and remembered as one filled with joy, passion and laughter.
Margaret had just celebrated her 30th year at Don Marco and was a fashion icon and diva with a big heart.
Her familiar, friendly and helpful face lit up the Don Marco Boutique in Greenacres, no matter who walked through the door.
Margie had also celebrated her 52nd birthday in October and was taken tragically young.
At Don Marco, she spent her days dealing with her clients’ needs and was known for her passion and commitment to her role as a senior manager.
Her warmth, honesty and strong leadership qualities will be the legacy she leaves behind with her team.
With so many years of retail experience, she always had a hidden gem as a surprise for each client to make them feel special.
She knew the fashion retail business inside out and dealt with clients from every walk of life — from independent businesswomen, to politicians and ministers, to scholars looking for matric dance dresses.
Margaret had time and style advice for anyone, and will be remembered as a pillar of strength at Don Marco.
She had been experiencing cardiac complications of late, and her passing came as a big shock to her team, her family and her friends.
Donieta Herr, owner of Don Marco, reflected on Margaret’s strong personality, her drive, her endurance, above all, her love and loyalty towards Donieta, her Don Marco team and clients.
“For 30 years we have walked together in fashion and life, step by step and side by side. Our team is reeling and you have left a void no-one can fill, Skhumba. Until we meet again.”
The Don Marco team would like to thank Margaret’s friends and clients for the outpouring of condolences received in the wake of this terrible news.
We take comfort in knowing she was so loved and respected, and wish her family and friends strength in the coming time.
