STRANGE JUSTICE

I still don’t get it! Minister Cele is happy to give me a criminal record for life if I buy a couple of smokes “under the counter”. However, should I wish to plunder the state coffers of millions of rand, the worst I can expect is a sore jaw from laughing all the way to my offshore account. If that’s justice, then I’m a banana.

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

The protesters who tried to destroy the statue of the great British leader, Winston Churchill, are obviously ignorant of the fact that if he and the Allied forces had not stopped Adolf Hitler in World War 2, there would be none or very few black people alive in today’s world.

BRING BACK DEATH PENALTY

If the ANC government is really serious about stopping, or at least curtailing, the totally unacceptable number of murders of women by men (often the men who are close to them), there is a solution. And that is to bring back the death sentence! To those who protest that that this won’t make any difference, at least try it. You will be surprised at the result. This is a heartfelt appeal to do something positive about these murders instead of the endless talk.

TRAFFIC OFFICERS

I think that Covid-19 hit the Port Elizabeth traffic department years ago. They appear to have been in self- isolation for years, judging by their lack of visibility.

MISS BIBLE VERSES

On behalf of my 87-year-old mom — and myself for that matter — what happened to the Bible verses on Page 2 of The Herald? Is it because it’s free and not paid for that it disappeared? Just asking. Mom and I miss it. I am sure others do too.
