APPLES AND PIPS

Checkers, can you then do a comparison of basic salary for South Africans and UK citizens, then do a comparison (“Cheeky Checkers ad reminds South Africans of good things back home”, January 30). Haroun

SMALL PLUS

The only positive I see from the collapse of the Bay’s sewerage network is the ammunition this gives the NMBM coalition to take to court against the MEC’s action to have a collective government. The ANC is to blame.

DOUBLE STANDARDS

Gerhard Adrian Snyman as Malema’s bodyguard and Lawrence Hodes as his defence advocate (“Malema and bodyguard challenge admissibility of rifle shot video footage”, January 31). What happened to “Kill the Boer, Kill the farmer” and other anti-white drivel?

WHAT’S UP WITH SMS NUMBER?

It’s very confusing when you change the chirps number and clearly say that it is a WhatsApp number, then rattle on about SMSes being charged. They are two completely different platforms and WhatsApp is free. If it is also valid as an SMS line, please say so. Change the heading to say WhatsApp or SMS.

SELECTIONS DON’T MAKE SENSE

The cricket supporting public must be sick and tired of the stupid decisions being taken by the incompetents at CSA and their “deployees”. Firstly, the omission of Dané Van Niekerk from the women’s World Cup squad (“Van Niekerk ‘broken’ after failing to make World Cup squad”), February 1. Secondly, the rotational policy for the men in a vital series against England when we are battling to qualify for the World Cup. Anrich Nortjé and Kagiso Rabada were omitted. Ridiculous!

Rocket I can’t see the need for a cricketer to run 2km in a certain time (“Van Niekerk ‘broken’ after failing to make World Cup squad”), February 1. There is no ground in the world that is this big. What a joke.

Malcolm Dodds Well done to the Proteas for winning the series vs England. It would have made a huge difference if we could have scored a “clean sweep” but our selectors, instead of rotating players wisely take both our best bowlers (Anrich Nortjé and Kagiso Rabada) out at the same time. So a tired Lungi Ngidi, who bowled well in the beginning, concedes 47 runs off his last four overs and SA lost the game by 59 runs. Denise, Greenshields Park
