Free online course for cannabis growers

-

South Africans can now learn how to grow their own weed online, for free.

The CannaClub launched its first theoretical grow-yourown cannabis course last Monday, in the hope of sharing free information with those eager to join the budding industry.

Located on the outskirts of Plettenberg Bay on the DankiPa farmstead, the cannabis stokvel was established in 2018 and operates legally as a private social club for members, after section 14 of SA’s constitution encompassed the right of consenting adults to cultivate, use and possess cannabis.

Using this technical yet legal mindmap, the farm is able to grow, harvest and provide cannabis to its members, and has also partnered with various stakeholders including the Cheeba Academy, who host their Cultivation Academy campus on the land.

Public relations manager Bertie van Jaarsveldt compiled the Outdoor Cannabis Cultivation

theoretical workshop after scouring the internet for the best information for the local climate.

“The course is aimed at anyone who is interested in growing cannabis outdoors, but doesn’t have the resources to go for a full national certificate or a R2,000 course.”

Van Jaarsvedt said it had taken almost a year to research and compile the outdoor cannabis theoretical workshop PDF, which is 122 pages long and includes diagrams and imagery for easy learning.

The 12-module course is a detailed guide, starting with the fundamentals of plant genetics to location, soil basics and flowering, and ending off with the harvesting, drying and curing process.

The next step in providing free cannabis education, Van Jaarsveldt explained, would be to create an original course, including links to local providers of supplies like soil, organic fertilisers or worms.

The course is available to those over 18 at http://www. thecannaclub.co.za/workshops
