Plett comes alive with movies, markets and art this weekend
The usually quiet coastal town of Plettenberg Bay is set to be a hub of activity as the region welcomes locals and holidaymakers to its scenic shores for a host of Easter weekend events.
From Barcade bringing guests a variety of goods through their flea market on Saturday to being stuck between deciding to enjoy an Easter cinema at Kay & Monty Vineyards or attending the “Gallery @ Sky Villa” art evening on Sunday, there is something to tickle everyone’s fancy this weekend. Ziggy Kana, a manager at Barcade, said the idea of the flea market was to bring families together through fun while giving vendors and artists an opportunity to showcase their craft.
Entrance to the event is free and it will run from 10am until 6pm.
For movie lovers, the Kay & Monty vineyard outdoors cinema is a treat just for you.
The event offers sundowners on the lawn while enjoying live music by Mekhala from Driftwinds, before a visit from the Easter Bunny and an Easter egg hunt for the children.
This will be followed by a screening of The Greatest Showman, by Open Plan Pictures.
The outdoor lawn will cater for 500 people.
One of the event organisers, Kannifer Woods, said they saw great potential in the event.
“People must expect a nice relaxing afternoon, good wine, best time with family and a great movie,” Woods said.
The event will start at 6.30pm.
Art lovers are set for a memorable evening at the Sky Villa boutique, which is hosting its monthly “Gallery @ Sky Villa” art evening.
The event will showcase professional artworks from local artists and out-of-town artists.
There will be a 30% discount on your food bill at the event, as well as wine by Boplass and live music by Jaco Kriek.
