The government is to be commended for the assistance offered to visiting royals from the UAE. Just a pity the UAE did not reciprocate by returning the Guptas.

SA’S G7 EXCLUSION

Is it any wonder that SA has not been invited to the G7? The other members are the “big boys” of the Western economies. SA has chosen to be in the other club, and insists on strengthening Brics alignment with Russia and China. With the added insistence on coal by a hardline communist, we are well on the path to exchanging Western grants for Eastern loans. When SA defaults on those loans it is headed for government by stealth and it will become another Chinese canton ruled from Beijing. The loss of the G7 invitation is just another nail in the coffin.

SERVICE GRIPE

I recently received terrible service at a sports betting venue in Linton Grange. The woman in charge, who does the payouts as well as processing tickets, is more interested in eating apples than serving customers. Twice in one week she processed numbers incorrectly. What a shame when we, the public, pay their salaries.

POTENTIAL FOR GRID COLLAPSE

Minister of electricity Kgosientsho Ramokgopa is saying nothing new with regards to the power situation. It ’ s a copy and paste of Andre De Ruyter ’ s analysis and planning. However, the minister needs to heed De Ruyter’s warnings about the potential of a collapse of the grid in his efforts to “please” the public.
