Broadway back in Gqeberha with Gilbert and Sullivan’s latest offering
Nelson Mandela Bay theatre audiences are in for a treat with the Gilbert and Sullivan (G&S) Society’s latest production, Mind My Broadway, gracing the stage at the Savoy Theatre from today.
A staple for the G&S Society, the 2023 instalment of the always popular Broadway Revue promises to be as entertaining as expected.
After a four-year hiatus, audiences can look forward to enjoying some much-needed entertainment from muchloved Broadway musical classics including Cats, Cabaret, Fidler
on the Roof, My Fair Lady and many more.
With a 30-member cast, Mind My Broadway will see the debut of Robert Gillmer as vocal director, with Carl-Lee Moodley from Feet on Fire choreographing the show.
Standout Love is in the Air performer Leandi Fontini, who co-directed Music! Movies! Magic!, joins the creative pool with a visionary concept for this all-singing, all-dancing spectacular.
Telling the story of diva extraordinaire Lola, through the help of vivid storytelling, Mind My Broadway is punted as bringing to life some musical theatre favourites as well as some lesser-known Broadway hits.
Audiences can look out for well-known local theatre names including Melissa Leander, Phil Cowie, Georgia-Jo Palmer and Ashleigh MalingNel, with Rose Cowpar in the main role as Lola. Mind My Broadway runs from Friday to May 27 at the Savoy Theatre in Adcockvale.
Theatregoers can look forward to the return of cabaretstyle seating at tables and patrons are welcome to bring along a picnic to enjoy during the show.
A cash bar and coffee bar will be available, as well as card facilities.
Tickets are R130 for 7.30pm performances nightly, with a 3pm matinee on Sunday May 21.
Tickets are available for R90 for the special family matinee on Saturday May 20 and Tuesday evening at 7.30pm.
