Come rain or shine, Siyanda “Peace Walker” Dlamini has continued to put his best foot forward to encourage the youth to develop themselves and SA.

Dlamini, 31, has spent the past 17 months walking across SA, preaching a message of peace among SA citizens.

At various pit stops along his route, which started in Durban in January last year, he has provided motivational talks at schools and churches and to people he meets along the way.

He arrived in Gqeberha on

Wednesday before setting course along the N2 to the Western Cape today.

“I have learnt a lot of things in my journey throughout the country,” he said.

“The country is not moving forward, people are becoming poorer.

“The effects of Covid-19 and load-shedding are affecting the development of the county as people are losing jobs and crime is not making the situation any better.”

Despite the challenges in SA, he encouraged citizens to remain patriotic and play their part in making the country better.

“I would like to encourage the youth to do something,” he said.

“My theme is peace and stability, because that is what we need for us to develop our country.

“If everyone becomes an active citizen we can achieve a lot.

“Look around you and create something, start small, do something good for yourself and something good for our country.

“Our leaders must identify good deeds that are being done by the youth and come closer to the people to support the youth.”

He said his peace walk would continue for the next three years as the campaign continued to grow.

“People are receiving my message well, the campaign is growing.

“I have assisted a number of schools, communities and cleaned a number of towns.

“People need peace, but for that to happen someone must lead it. If we want peace to happen in the country we must talk about it.

“We have to be visible for people to be able to take the message and run with it.”
