NEWLANDS PITCH HORROR

-

I wonder who was responsible for preparing the dreadful pitch at Newlands? The cricket reporters have been completely silent about the condition of the pitch and who had to prepare it. More of a chance for a real Test match at St George’s Park.

Gavin I think Cricket SA should investigate the pitch at Newlands. Two of the world’s top sides performing like they did is so sad. Not to mention the money that was lost and the disappointment caused to crowds of people. I can remember many years ago a Test match at Newlands being called off because it was dangerous for the batsmen.

NO POLICITAL AFFILIATION

Re the Herald 4.1.2024, a city should be run by persons with no political background; people out of the community who have no connections with any political party at all.

If any of the persons serving the public even mentioned something about a political party, he or she must immediately step down. They must be chosen by the public and be accountable to the public. This is the only way to get rid of infighting and fraud. You must be able to do the job without fear or favour. No politician from the government at all. It worked in PE years ago, it can work again.

DOGS LOOKED AFTER

I am the dog owner in the recent back and forth letters. My business is Treeman. Many of you know my two dogs that are always with me. Approach me any time you think my poor dog is stressed or ill treated. My dogs are with me every day; we live together, do everything together. Sometimes they cannot go into a place, so then they have to stay in the car. Sometimes they get hot, sometimes even uncomfortably so, but every morning they are at the door, waiting to go with me. Yes, we need people to care; we do not need little busybody, attention-seeking, future bitter women running about making right and wrong decisions for others. In 50 years of having dogs, to have some person judge me in the public eye — get lost, get a life. I am past angry about this. I am Dave — Treeman. My dogs and I live wonderful lives on the road and everywhere else.
