It would be interesting to see how today’s matrics have fared in a year’s time

With so much press space devoted to the exceptional number of successful pupils writing matric this year, I wonder if perhaps this time next year we will be told how they have done since.

What we will see in the press then?

Without wanting to be a “doubting Thomas,” I think that from a streetwise individual’s opinion, rather than statistics provided by number crunchers, that many of the cheers may have turned to tears.

I have only contempt for a government and educational system that can raise pupils’ aspirations and then disappoint them.

Not wishing to belittle the pupils’ achievements, it is obvious matric standards are well below what they should be, hence the huge number of unsuccessful applicants for limited university places, just to satisfy the egos and positions of those who are responsible for the ensuing chaotic situation.

The appeal to the International Court of Criminal Justice being one of them.

There are allegations that this was brought about to fund the ANC coffers from outside.

How can a country as poor as SA bring an international case while there are far more cases of genocide happening on its own continent.

I have many doubts. How can Ramaphosa speak of justice after aiding and abetting the escape from justice of President Omar al-Bashir for crimes against humanity, murder, extermination, rape and war crimes?

Rather than being a champion of a cause Mr Ramaphosa you have again shown yourself to be a twofaced hypocrite.

Perhaps there is some truth in the adage: “In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king”.

This applies to many ANC ministers and followers of the party.
