Pearson High musical show keeps focus on SA heritage
Music lovers and aspiring thespians are in for a treat next week as some of the Bay’s most talented pupils take to the stage for Pearson High School’s uniquely South African musical showcase aptly named HomeTalk.
The production, running from April 23 to April 27, features a captivating showcase of homegrown hit songs performed by the school’s talented music pupils.
The show director and renowned theatre stalwart, Linda-Louise Swain, said the musical journey promised to take audiences on a cultural adventure through the diverse musical landscape of SA, from the infectious beats of Mango Groove to the soul-stirring sounds of Umthwalo Wam.
“This production is a celebration of South African music and talent,” Swain said.
“We’ve worked tirelessly to curate a lineup that pays homage to the rich musical heritage of our country while also showcasing the incredible skills and creativity of our students.”
Under the watchful eye of musical director Anton Steyn and his experienced team of music staff, the cast have been hard at work perfecting their pieces.
“Audiences can expect an electrifying fusion of traditional and contemporary music, brought to life by our dedicated students whose passion for music knows no bounds,” Steyn said. Featuring iconic songs from renowned South African artists and bands, the production is linked by a quirky narrator, who at times cannot resist joining in the festivities.
“The production promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience for audiences of all ages.
“Whether you’re a diehard fan of South African music or simply looking for a night of entertainment unlike any other, this show is not to be missed,” Steyn said.
