Be of service to others, like Nelson Mandela
AMONG the best actions are those which gladden people’s hearts, feed the hungry, help the afflicted, lighten their sorrow and remove their suffering.
Being of service to others is an integral part of humanity.
Everyone should be actively involved in social welfare and in meeting the needs of the communities in which they live.
A person who is insensitive to the suffering of others and not inclined to serve the cause of humanity cannot be described as good for mankind.
We must always be ready to serve mankind and have love and kindness for all of God’s creations.
Mandela Day is a global call to action that celebrates the idea that each individual has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better.
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” – Nelson Mandela
If each one of us heeded the call to simply do good every day, we would be helping to build a country of our dreams.
Mandela followed three rules throughout his life, which he did at great personal sacrifice: Free yourself; free others; serve every day.
From 1941 to 1961, Nelson Mandela was a member of the organised legal profession in South Africa. He was an attorney at law by profession and a revolutionary by vocation.
