HE DONS the skins and steps out on stage to continue Defending the Caveman. Tim Plewman is back with the longest-running and most successful solo comedy in South African theatre history.

The one-man show returns to Durban’s Elizabeth Sneddon theatre from September 7 to 17.

The Broadway production still holds the record for the longest running non-musical solo comedy, which exposes the hunter-gatherer in us all and has played to over 1 million people.

Penned by Rob Becker, Plewman adapted the script for southern Africa and went on to win the Vita Award for best actor in a comedy.

Updated, upgraded and up-loadable to today’s world of tweets, selfies and 6 million Facebook friends, this is a hilarious, affectiona­te and insightful comedy that explains why men and women see the world so differentl­y.

Plewman has become one of the most sought after actors in South Africa, equally at home in drama or comedy. He is also a dancer, writer, humourist, director and producer.

Since his first lead role in 1978, he has remained at the top of the acting world. He has won five best actor/best director awards, has written two books and half a dozen plays and TV specials.

His book, Fitness For Old Farts, reached number 10 on the best-sellers list in South Africa, and he does motivation­al speaking countrywid­e inspiring the over fifties to regain fitness, flexibilit­y and fun.
