SAPS Umbilo a credit to the police service

I’D LIKE to give a very warm shout-out to SAPS Umbilo.

On Monday September 19 my 17-year-old car was stolen from Devonshire Avenue behind Davenport Square in Glenwood. It may not be worth much in book value, but to me it was invaluable.

I called SAPS Umbilo, thinking they would say they had more serious things to worry about and they’d get there when they could. Constables Shelembe and Mabaso were there in less than 10 minutes. They were polite, kind and compassionate while taking my statement. I have since had three SMSes to keep me updated. On Wednesday a Constable Malunga called me to keep me updated.

Police often get bad press for a number of reasons but I cannot emphasise enough how impressed I am with their response. SAPS Umbilo are a credit to the uniform and have restored my faith in the system. Thank you so much.
