The greed-monsters are now in plain sight

- From: MALCOLM BUCKLEY Somerset Park

I THOUGHT I would drop you a line about a few good people in these politically and financially troubled times, when our country is fighting the possibility of financial “junk status”, the government is at war with itself, and the greed-monster is not hiding under the bed but is out there in plain sight on our TV screens.

We all know the correct though ridiculous statements made by JZ, but fortunately the number of “clever people” is on the rise and cannot be suppressed forever. The “clever people” would expect government to take heed of the recent political swing, but it seems to have made the monsters-inplain-sight dig in their heels and cry foul instead.

Fortunately, we have a few good people we can talk about. Top of the list would have to be Nelson Mandela (gone but not forgotten) others at the top of my list would be Desmond Tutu, Thuli Madonsela, Pravin Gordhan, Trevor Manuel, and Cyril Ramaphosa. There are many more, too many to mention, and it would be remiss of me not to mention the fantastic work done by the many investigative reporters and political analysts who keep the public informed on matters pertaining to the monsters-in-plain-sight.

These are the people who can make a difference by keeping the voters informed and motivated. We do have a free press which is something worth fighting for. In the end however it is up to the “clever people” to get out there and vote.
