Ball tampering OMG please –

Former Australian opening batsman Matthew Hayden cannot believe the ball tampering charges levelled against Proteas captain Faf du Plessis after he was caught shining the ball with his saliva while sucking a mint.

I’m happy to admit that I am no academic expert on the impact that sugar can have on the aerodynamics of fast bowling, but I’ve played and coached enough cricket to know that the whole thing is a bit ridiculous. –

Former Australian legend Jason Gillespie agrees with Hayden.

Relax boys, relax, let’s just relax, relax … –

Faf du Plessis trying to calm things down after the Proteas and an Australian reporter were involved in a scuffle at the airport during the whole Lollygate saga .

This report has been dealt with in a very funny way, very funny in my view. It affected me and many. No fairness, at all. –

President Jacob Zuma labels the decision by SA’s four big banks to stop doing business with a Guptacontrolled company as suspicious.

Zuma expressing his unhappiness about former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela directing that Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng choose the judge to lead an inquiry.

Green ’n gold clad men being talked down from tall buildings all over Cape Town. @Springboks rugby has sunk to its nadir. They were horrible –

Former South Africa sports journalist Martin Gillingham (@MartGillingham) sums up the country’s rugby after the Springboks dismal loss to Italy.

It’s (sad) to say but no rugby nation FEAR the Springboks anymore. Peace –

Feared ormer Springbok lock Bakkies Botha (@ BakkiesBotha4) laments the fall of the national rugby team.

Whatever happens happens. –

Coach Allister Coetzee after the Springboks shock loss to Italy.

We are in a bit of a hole at the moment, and the buck stops with me. It’s been a tough year and I take responsibility for a lot of things. But I only got started in April and there are challenges in South African rugby that are unique to us. –

Coetzee, stating the obvious, then accepting responsibility before deflecting the blame.
