Many gems on offer at Pearls Mall

- ARTHI GOPI

FROM snakeskin jackets costing tens of thousands of rand, to starfish T-shirts and gold galore. The newly opened Pearls Mall in uMhlanga offers a glittering array of retail outlets, and several of the stores and restaurants are the first of their kind in KwaZulu-Natal.

The Pearls Mall, just off Lagoon Drive, is adjacent to the Pearls building, developed by movie mogul Anant Singh.

Construction work continues around the building, but retail manager Yolandé Mattison said they were open for business.

“We are so excited by the gallery opening, and lots of people have been coming through. The restaurants are busy as well,” said Mattison.

With 800 parking bays, several boutiques and a gym, the mall is expected to cater to the needs of the Pearl residents and local customers.

“We have the flagship Food Lovers Eatery, the first in KZN, and we expect it to be a major attraction. We also have clothing stores for those wanting unique items and plenty of parking. You can come get your nails done, buy food, leave your kids in an entertainment area or go to gym; we have something for everyone,” she said.

Meanwhile, businessman Vivian Reddy’s Oceans uMhlanga hotel and shopping centre are being constructed across the road, also promising an offering of high-end retail outlets.
