ANC will ruffle feathers on chicken farms issue
HAVE you heard the good news? The ANC wants the government to take over the chicken farms. Management and workers would be excited. Work or no work, they would collect their pay at the end of the month.
Also excited would be those with close ties to the ruling party. Goverment-run chicken farms would be another lucrative door to instant wealth for all the ANC cronies, scyophants and lap dogs.
ANC cadres would be deployed to run the chicken farms. With no work ethic, experience or expertise in the poultry industry, they would follow the outstanding example set by SAA, SABC and other troubled parastatals, sit on their butt, demand more pay and let the farms go to ruin. This would suit Europe and the US as their cheap chickens would fill our supermarket shelves.
Perhaps it would redeploy former SABC boss Hlaudi Motsoeneng to head the embattled poultry industry. He may surprise us. He’d stamp his authority on the industry, ban foreign chicken and force everyone to eat Rainbow chicken as “local is lekker”.
But what if he does what he did at SABC, adopt a hardline stance, triple his pay but pay his staff chicken feed? He would surely ruffle feathers. Even the chickens would get a fright.
The ANC is a snake. It speaks with a forked tongue. It talks of high unemployment, poverty and job creation but allows imported chicken and Chinese goods to flood our markets. If the ANC cannot run our schools and hospitals efficiently, can it run a chicken farm profitably?
