Trump Towers monolith approved for uMhlanga Ridge

A NEW Trump Towers is set to dominate the uMhlanga skyline next year.

Russian billionaire and property developer Yuredi Foragigil confirmed the construction of a massive 60-storey building on uMhlanga Ridge yesterday.

“I have purchased a piece of prime vacant land in uMhlanga and, in partnership with the Trump organisation, this building will be even higher than the famous Trump Towers on Fifth Avenue in New York. It will house the organisation’s African and Middle East operations and provide multi-use space for top corporates, as well as elite residential apartments for property investors who are looking for a sound investment,” the developer said.

The massive skyscraper will be the tallest building in Durban, taller than the Pearl Sky tower at 44 floors currently being constructed in uMhlanga.

Its features will include a triple-storey atrium decked in marble and gilt, three helipads, a giant musical fountain and an upper terrace that will include a rim-flow swimming pool and Texan barbeque. There would be the world’s largest glass-bottom Jacuzzi, with 180º views, along with floating orchids on a sundowner deck.

The terrace will also include a cocktail bar, five-star restaurant serving local specialities like bunny chows and walkie-talkies (chicken beaks and claws), and a nightclub complete with a pole-dancing stage and mud-wrestling pit.

The penthouse suite will be the US president’s holiday pad.

In addition, Trump’s image would be reflected in LED lighting across the front of the massive monolith.

Architect Dayaf Termarch said the design of the towers had been inspired by the Capitol Building and The White House in Washington, and the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

He admitted the towers had been designed quickly and raced through for city approval before new by-laws, which would prevent the blocking of existing views, came into place early next year.

The city was unavailable for comment late last night.

Interior designer Jocke Sonu, who designed the baroque interiors of Trump’s Mara-Lago pad in Florida, said: “It’s just going to blow you away. There will be more gold leaf than in the Vatican.”

But uMhlanga gender activist Ayprool Foolashia of the Women’s Rights Group was scathing. “How can he be allowed to build this given his global notoriety for disrespecting women? He’s bound to be too busy building walls anyway.”

But sweet potato street vendor Justa Joko, who has been promised employment at the new towers, said, “I’m very excited to see big corporates finally happy to give the vendors a piece of the sweet potato pie.”

Durban hair salon owner Yugen Alof said he would like to provide Trump with a weave when he’s in Durban to check out his new building.

“I want to redo his whole look. He needs to take some off the front and streamline the sides, with a wave at the top. We will call it the Trump wave, like a Mexican wave but not a real Mexican wave, of course.”

White House press spokesperson Sean Spicer said he could not comment on the president’s personal business interests.

Meanwhile, on reading about the new development online early this morning, Trump himself tweeted: “Fake news. It’s all fake news. It’s April 1, after all.”
