Health care in KZN needs to be improved

- From: ISMAIL M MOOLLA Umzinto

WHAT is wrong with doctors and nurses marching? They were highlighting the deteriorating levels of health care at KZN state hospitals. All they did was to appeal for improved health care.

The health-care service at many KZN state hospitals is in the doldrums. Therefore, doctors and nurses should not be prosecuted for marching. If they are to be prosecuted, it will surely be an irresponsible move.

The march is a wake-up call for KZN Health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo.

There is a shortage of staff and hospitals are over-crowded, and no one listens to patients’ complaints.

There are many vacancies at hospitals. Why are they not filled so that competent and efficient services can be dispensed to the public?

The cause of all health-care service ills lies in the hands of Dr Dhlomo. He can improve the services if he applies his mind to deal with the situation.
