ALL EYES ON YOUNG SNAPPERS
TALENT abounds in the lenses of KwaZulu-Natal pupils.
From Wednesday until Sunday, videos and photography will be exhibited at Kearsney College.
Photographs ranging from conventional portraits and contemporary snaps taken with cellphones, to exquisite studies and imaginative videos, each highlighting the province’s talent and up-and-coming photographers, will be on show.
The five categories allow photographers to showcase their talents using mobile devices (iPad, tablet, cellphone or Go-Pro), DSLR cameras as well as videos using mobile devices.
The Documenting our Lives Photo and Film competition is open to all pupils in KwaZulu-Natal between the ages of 13 and 19.
This year categories include My space (a cityscape or landscape) ; The natural world (plants, insects, birds or wildlife); Old and Young (black and white portrait); Caught in Motion (sporting or action shot); and Moments (a 30-second video capturing a funny or unique moment).
The annual Culture@Kearsney programme is a celebration of the vibrant and dynamic arts scene in KZN schools. It aims to enrich the development of the arts, art and photographic competitions.
The panel of experts which judges the competition is independent, with no affiliation to Kearsney or any school which submits work.
The exhibition is open daily between 9am-6pm in the Long Room of the Centenary Centre at Kearsney College in Botha’s Hill. Entry is free. – Staff Reporter
