The elusive silver fish

-

SARDINE fever hit KZN shores on Thursday, with catches netted at Isipingo, eManzimtoti and Winklespruit, but the much-anticipated shoals failed to arrive on Durban beaches yesterday.

Last night KZN Sharks Board operations head, Mike Anderson-Reade, said that late yesterday sardine activity had been spotted further south.

Eight nets were landed on Thursday, with the largest producing 300 crates. Sardines were snapped up around Durban, and last night many families were enjoying the traditional KZN sardine fry-up, with the small fish being coated in a masala and salt mixture and deep fried until crispy.
