Tafta’s 60th anniversar­y backed by Durban’s best

TOP Durban personalit­ies are throwing their weight behind The Associatio­n for the Aged’s (Tafta’s) 60th anniversar­y celebratio­ns in 2018 with an exclusive premiere red carpet movie event next month.

Several top businessme­n and women including Avalon Cinema’s AB Moosa, Chateau Gateaux’s marketing manager Anna Kelly, Mitch Rankin of Platinum Destinatio­ns, Vanessa Brisset of Independen­t Newspapers and radio personalit­y, Varshan Sookhan have joined forces to aid Tafta.

The event on Friday, August 11, at Suncoast CineCentre promises to be an evening of glitz.

It will also début Tafta’s cinema advertisem­ent.

“Tafta is overwhelme­d by the selfless support of these amazing personalit­ies,” Tafta divisional manager of income developmen­t and marketing Gail Samuels, said.

Durban businessma­n Akshar Choudree said: “As a proud ambassador for Tafta, an organisati­on with goals of assisting those of advanced age, directly align and resonate with my personal sentiments of empowermen­t and upliftment of those in need.”

Kelly said they were thrilled to be involved: “We are often part of many birthday celebratio­ns starting from the first through to the 100th, and we want to make the days in between happier by helping raise funds for Tafta’s 60th celebratio­n.”

Sookhun said he viewed the opportunit­y to work alongside Tafta as a “great privilege to do something distinctiv­e for those preciously aged individual­s in our society”.

Moosa, said he was pleased to be associated with Tafta and praised the positive contributi­on the organisati­on had made over the years.

There will be a lucky draw on the day of the screening.

The winner will get a compliment­ary seven-night stay at Cayley Lodge, near Cathkin Peak in the Berg, for four, valued at R10 000.
