Sunglasses are a fashionable accessory that serves to protect your eyes from the sun. The Chopard De Rigo Vision Sunglasses however, have something special and at $408 000 (R5.3 million), they had better.

These sunnies were created by the luxury glasses manufacturer De Rigo Vision and the Swiss Luxury firm Chopard to appeal to the needs of outrageously rich clientele. Made with 60g of 24 carat gold, with 4 carats of river diamonds encrusted, they are a style statement.

The $120 000 (R1.5 million) Focal Utopia by Tournaire holds the title of the world’s most expensive headphones. Featuring 18-carat gold set with six-carat diamonds, it’s unsurprising that they were handcrafted by master jewellers. A portion of the sales will go towards saving eight-year-old Louis Biscini, who suffers from the degenerative disease spinal muscular atrophy type 1. You can also walk away with a $12 000 stand.

The ultimate luxury is reclining in a bath, submerged in warm water, with bubbles tickling your toes. Giving your regular old porcelain tub a run for it’s money is The Grand Queen Bathtub. The bath is carved from the rare Caijou gemstone at $170 000 (R2.2 million). The gem was once used by ancient civilisations and is believed to contain healing properties. The source of the gem is still kept a secret. The designer, Simon Krapf, used 10 tons of this gem to craft the tub in the shape of an Indonesian canoe.
