OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN – ANFIELD, HERE I COME

-

Chelsea chiefs have been infuriated by Oxlade-Chamberlain’s snub given the amount of work they have put into landing him. It leaves their transfer plans in tatters after also failing to secure Ross Barkley’s services.

Chelsea also made a move for Swansea striker Fernando Llorente to provide back-up to first-choice striker Alvaro Morata, but he opted for Tottenham Hotspur instead.

Oxlade-Chamberlain penned a five-year contract and the England forward is set to earn £120 000 a week at Anfield, which is £60 000 a week less than Arsenal offered in a new deal.

One of the signings of the window is Swansea’s loan deal for exciting Portuguese winger Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich.

Bayern, who paid £30m for Sanches last summer, came to an agreement with the Welsh club on Thursday, despite interest in the 20-year-old from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Monaco and AC Milan.

The deal owes much to contacts manager Paul Clement made while an assistant at Bayern, who are understood to be asking a £7m loan fee. Clement will add Wilfried Bony from Manchester City as a replacement for Llorente, while an £8m bid for Ashley Barnes at Burnley has been rejected.

Chelsea have held further talks with Atletico Madrid over a compromise fee for Diego Costa. Atletico propose to pay about £39m with a further £10m based on addons.

WEST HAM put the blocks on Diafra Sakho’s move to Rennes despite the striker travelling to France for a medical. Crystal Palace then offered £10m for the striker, only for co-chairman David Gold to insist he was staying.

WEST BROM have signed PSG midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak on loan. PSG paid £27m for the 27-year-old Poland international a year ago. Albion also signed Kieran Gibbs from Arsenal for £7m and hope to add Eliaquim Mangala from Manchester City as part of a deal for Jonny Evans.

MANCHESTER CITY defender Jason Denayer has turned down Brighton and Celtic to move to Galatasaray on loan. Midfielder Fabian Delph has also turned down the chance to join Stoke.

CRYSTAL PALACE signed defender Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool on a four-year contract.

EVERTON have signed teenage Nikola Vlasic from Croatian side Hajduk Split. The 19-year-old signed a five-year contract.

BURNLEY signed Huddersfield’s Nahki Wells for £5m after an offer for Lorient’s Majeed Waris was rejected. – Daily Mail
