Big rewards for lost feline friends

- DUNCAN GUY

A YOUNG Phoenix woman on a gap year in the US has offered her first au pair salary as a reward to anyone who finds King, her family’s missing brown and ginger oneeyed cat.

Translated from dollars, it amounts to R10 000.

At the same time, a tattoo artist who heard of King’s disappearance and had himself suffered the loss of a beloved feline added a free tattoo to anyone who finds the Isaac family’s beloved cat.

Sharon Isaacs, the mother of Leanda in the US, has added five free car washes to the reward package.

“We rescued him injured from the side of the road in February. The vet could not save his one eye and he was too young to be neutered,” she said. “I presume that’s why he’s gone out.”

She said many people did not understand why the family was offering such a huge reward.

“He is part of our family He’s full of fun. It’s been very empty without him.”

She said Leanda totally adored the eight-month-old cat.

“She is heartbroken and checking in every day.”

On the other side of town, a cat one month older than King went missing in the Glenwood area and has a R2000 reward on its head.

Hayley Wagner of Glenwood, the owner of black-andwhite Sanchez, started handing out fliers about her cat yesterday afternoon, hoping an elderly person who is not connected to social media may have taken him in and would hear about him via the newspaper.

The Isaacs can be contacted on 076 429 5676 and Hayley Wagner on 074 619 3881.
