Ready to bear the torch
THE Independent on Saturday has a new acting editor. Lindsay Slogrove, appointed from December 1, joined the Daily News in 1985 as a sub-editor.
She was part of the team that produced the very first The Saturday Paper, in 1993, and has had close ties with the newspaper since then.
Apart from production duties on titles in the KZN newspaper stable, she was chief subeditor of the Daily News and The Independent on Saturday.
After serving as assistant editor on the Daily News, she worked as news editor for The Independent on Saturday until her recent appointment.
“The Independent on Saturday has always had a special place in my heart, and I’m delighted to be given this opportunity” said Slogrove.
“We have a small but dedicated and talented team who all have the same goal: to make the Indy the best weekend read in KZN, whether in print or on our digital platforms.
“The paper’s spirit has been nurtured by remarkable editors before me, and our team wants to build on that. We want to entertain, inform and be part of our readers’ lives.
“We also strive to give advertisers the best weekend exposure possible.”
She said there were exciting challenges ahead. Slogrove can be reached at lindsay. slogrove@inl.co.za – Staff Reporter
