No substitute for reality

- From: TONY BALL Flaunting wealth in face of woe From: SANJAY SINGH

NOT ONLY is M-Net/ MultiChoice/ DStv insulting us by showing repeats and claiming them as new content, they show youngsters on PlayStations pretending they are Grand Prix drivers at Abu Dhabi.

Driving a real racing or rally car cannot be compared to WITH reference to the letter from Dhayalan Moodley “Reddy comments uncalled for” (TIOS, December 2), it seems Moodley has now taken on a new role – that of being an apologist for the rich.

If Moodley hadn’t noticed, Jayraj Bachu did acknowledge the rich do make contributions to charities. His criticism was the manner in which they flaunt their wealth in public.

Ranjith Ramnarain, a multi-millionaire who owned a fleet of trucks, has made his wealth available to religious sitting in the comfort of a chair pushing buttons. Motor racing requires car preparation, tactics, determination and mental strength in the face of adversity.

Passing off computer game experts as racing drivers is an insult to all real motor sport people. Next, gamers playing golf on their PlayStation will think they are as good as Garcia, Westwood and McIlroy. organisations to build temples and feeds the poor through the Hare Krishna Food for Life programme. When he re-married after his first wife had passed away, his wedding was a plain and simple one.

Ramnarain sold his fleet of trucks, but his charity continues to benefit individuals and organisations which serve poor communities. He does this in the most unobtrusive manner. Therein lies his greatness and there are many others like him.

I don’t think Bachu’s intentions were to cast aspersions on the rich, but to make them diplomatic in the manner in which they live their life.
