EManzimtoti beach will be the place to be
eTHEKWINI’s southern beaches are gearing up for a bumper season with an array of fun and festive activities for residents and holidaymakers.
Under the banner of Sapphire Coast Tourism, eManzimtoti Main Beach is going to be transformed into a family playground in a festival of events that starts this weekend and runs until December 31.
“December is always a really busy month for the jewel of KwaZulu-Natal,” said Romy Wenzel, chairperson of Sapphire Coast Tourism. “Our incredible beaches, world-class dive sites, cultural spots, nature reserves and quality food and drink venues keep the tourists coming year after year.”
Beach events include action games beach volleyball, touch rugby, action cricket and football competitions. Puppet shows, children’s games, treasure hunts, karaoke, flagging, banner making, tenpin bowling, face painting and sandcastle building are among the many activities on offer.
Lighting

The public is invited to the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Amphitheatre at around dusk.
The Summer Watermelon Festival is a family-friendly event at the eManzimtoti Sports Centre from noon.
The Christmas Market is a one-stop Christmas shopping venue with a range of craft stalls, food stalls and an entertainment zone for the children with inflatables and rides at Sweetwaters Church from 2pm to 9pm with a carol service at 7pm. Visitors are asked to bring a bag or tin of dog or cat food for the eManzimtoti SPCA. – Staff Reporter
