COME Thursday, March 1, the entries for the exciting Curry Cook-off competitio­n will close.

Now is the time to get the ideas flowing and your recipes together to stand the chance of being selected to compete on Saturday, March 17.

The competitio­n is only open to amateur cooks, over the age of 18.

Three contestant­s from each of the four categories – mutton, chicken, seafood or vegetarian – will be selected to form the final 12 contestant­s who will then cook their dish for the judges on the day.

So, whether you call yourselves The Spicy Sisters; Hot Honchos; or Perfect Pair, think of something deliciousl­y creative and get your entry in before 4pm on IN THE BOX! Jaidene Moodley of Independen­t Media marketing shows readers where to drop their entries for the Curry CookOff competitio­n. All amateur cooks are invited to enter the competitio­n, which will be held on March 17 at The Springfiel­d Value Centre. Entry is free. Thursday. Entry forms should be submitted at The Independen­t on Saturday competitio­n box at 18 Osborne Street in Greyville. Entry is free. Finalists will be telephonic­ally contacted one week before the competitio­n, and allocated a number and time slot.

Each finalist will have only 1 hour to prepare, cook and serve their dish on the day, with the help of one assistant of their choice and with ingredient­s supplied by Springfiel­d Retail Centre.

Prizes up for grabs in each category include R5 000 in cash for 1st place; a R1 000 hamper and a set of Lassar Knives for 2nd place and R1 000 hamper for 3rd place.
