Johnny and Jesse a duo on TV
SA MUSIC legend Johnny Clegg and his son, Jesse, will make music history tomorrow night when the two appear on M-Net’s Dancing With The Stars SA to perform their first recorded song together.
Last night Clegg said: “Yes, it’s the first ever recorded song by my son Jesse and myself. We will be performing it for the first time on television.
“We have always kept our careers separate, but when Jesse came to me with this song, I really wanted it to be part of my album King of Time and it’s wonderful to be able to share it,” he said.
Along with the 10 remaining couples in the competition who will be strutting their stuff to the beat of the biggest of South African hits, Clegg, who embarked on a heartfelt final global tour this year to say goodbye to his millions of fans while fighting pancreatic cancer, and his hit-making son Jesse, will also perform together live for the first time on a reality televsion show.
“We are incredibly honoured to have Johnny and Jesse on the show,” said M-Net’s head of publicity, Lani Lombard.
“We know that it will be a very special personal moment for them and having Johnny on the programme is also our way to thank a true legend. We invite all our viewers to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime performance.” During the two-hour live extravaganza, the competing couples will have to be fully in rhythm in front of the judges and the voting public to show how they have mastered their technique and storytelling on the dance floor to music by Mi Casa, Freshlyground, Mango Groove, Goodluck, Black Coffee, Laurika Rausch, Miriam Makeba and Cassper Nyovest.
