Musical blast from the past

-

THE Gee Jays are back with another nostalgic musical journey at the Rhumbelow Theatre at Tina’s Hotel in Kloof, from Thursday, May 17, to Sunday, May 20.

The well-known trio, John Didlick, Gary McKenzie and Grant Bell, have been together for 32 years and have promised their show will take the audience “on a trip down memory lane and back again, with some long forgotten songs” – including songs from artists such as Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Bill Haley & The Comets, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Engelbert Humperdinck, Louis Armstrong and more.

“Join us as we as they take you on a sentimental journey back to the time when music was music. What we’ve found out is that there’s the right way, the wrong way and there’s the railway. But this time we’re doing it our way,” said Didlick.

The trip will also cover the golden eras of Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, The Commodores, John Lennon, Simon and Garfunkel, and Robbie Williams – with some of the hits featured being Wonderful World, Rock Around The Clock, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, That’ll Be The Day and My Way.

All this, interwoven with the famous Gee Jays style of comic patter, make up an evening’s entertainment.

The shows will start at 8pm Thursday to Saturday; Sunday’s show will start at 2pm.

Tickets R150, pensioners and FHSSC members R130, Loyalty card holders R120.
