Flip a Barbarian, Carr a Wasp again

LONDON: Big South African lock Flip van der Merwe has been included in the Barbarians squad that will play England in the Quilter Cup internatio­nal at Twickenham next weekend.

The Barbarians, who will be coached by New Zealander Pat Lam, named a 17-man squad via their Twitter account yesterday. More names will be added later.

Stormers No 8 Nizaam Carr is set to return to the English Premiershi­p club Wasps after a short spell at the Coventry-based club a few months ago.

Yesterday the telegraph.co.uk website reported that Wasps will make the announceme­nt soon.

The 27-year-old, who has 27 Springbok caps, produced a few stand-out performanc­es while making seven appearance­s for the club at the end of 2017. Since then there has always been talk of Carr returning to the club. – African News Agency (ANA)
