Malema rewriting history

- From: ROBIN NAIDOO

JULIUS Malema, Floyd Shivambu and the EFF make me see red.

They need history lessons on apartheid and racism.

Limpopo and North-West provinces both have very small Indian populations compared with the rest of South Africa. The majority of us Indians actually live and work in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, and not in your world of Limpopo.

The “others” Malema and Company encountered from 1994 are most probably Pakistani and Bangladeshi immigrants whom the ANC allow in unchecked, with no economic benefit to us, believing that we Indians cannot cut hair, grill chicken, sell cellphones or used motor vehicles, or run spaza shops/supermarkets.

Indians arrived in Durban in 1860, 158 years ago, as indentured labourers (virtual slaves), to work in the sugarcane plantations, coal mines and railways in KZN. That explains why so many Indians live in former “white” areas that they, or their parents/ grandparents/ great grandparents, worked in.

Many of us were evicted from former white areas to Indian townships, the majority being on the border of African townships.

Please explain what benefits we received from apartheid that you were denied when we were third-class citizens under white rule.

Did the late ANC Lennie Naidu and Ahmed Timol die in vain? Did Ahmed Kathrada, Mac Maharaj and the PAC and BC Indians go to Robben Island Prison for Indians or for all South Africans? Were Monty Naicker, Yusuf Dadoo, Fatima Meer, Jay Naidoo, the Ginwala sisters, Dr Goonam, Phyllis Naidoo, George Naicker, George Sewpersadh, among others, not ANC freedom fighters, cadres, stalwarts, heroes?

We won’t go back to India because we never came from India. We are South African by birth, not Guptas.

Julius and Floyd, the late AWB leader Eugene Terre’Blanche would be so proud of you as his “Mini Me” in his, and now your, “Ventersdorp”. You proved to him, his AWB, and all South Africans, once again, that racists and fascists come in all colours, shapes and sizes. No democratic South African should ever vote for your EFF or you.

Remember, being a racist is a choice.
