Ladysmith to headline Inanda festival

THE legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo will be headlining at the first Inanda Dam World Music Festival, with a stellar line-up including Lira, Oliver Mtukudzi, The Maffinz, Mbuso Khoza, Steve Kekana, Shabalala Rythms and Joe Nina.

The new event, which is being presented by the Ladysmith Black Mambazo academy, will take place at the dam on Sunday, December 9 and festival organiser, Xolani Majozi, said: “Our intention is for this event to happen annually and become one of KZN’s signature festive season events. The idea is to feature some of Africa’s greatest music icons who have made it big globally.”

Some of this potential young talent will be showcased at the event.

“This will be a family-friendly fun event where music lovers can start their festive season with a relaxing day of great music. The event is also aiming at attracting people from all walks of life and from across the entire continent of Africa,” said Majozi.

The event is from 10am to 8pm. There will also be pop-up music stands on site where people will be encouraged to buy music of the participat­ing artists, while at the same time discouragi­ng the public from buying pirated music.

Tickets are available at Computicke­t at R200 per person. Bring a picnic basket and blankets, fold up chairs and sun hats.
