NOW in its 22nd year, the Time of The Writer Festival takes place from March 13 to 16 at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre and other venues in and around eThekwini Municipality.

Backed by the University of KwaZuluNatal’s Centre for Creative Arts (CCA), the four-day literary festival celebrates Durban’s status as a Unesco City of Literature, allowing audiences and up-and-coming authors to experience the power of stories through this year’s theme: “Centring the Indigenous”.

There are 13 guest writers at the festival. The opening night takes place at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on March 13 at 7pm. A Publishing Forum and a children’s gathering takes place on Saturday, March 16 from 10am to noon at the KZNSA Gallery. All events are free. SHARE Shrove Tuesday fellowship at Musgrave Methodist Church with their pancake supper fund-raiser.

Shrove Tuesday, which is the night before Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of Lent, is traditionally the last day of decadent eating before the abstemious fasting 40-day period of Lent.

It was traditional in many societies to eat pancakes or other food made with the butter, eggs and fat that would be given up during the Lenten season.

All the proceeds from this event will go to the new church roof fund.

Enjoy some rich pancakes and family fellowship at Musgrave Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 5, from 4pm to 7pm.

For more information, contact the church office on 031 201 2005.
