The year of Indigenous Colour
AN OXYMORON it might sound like at first; however, those green thumbed of the garden world know that indigenous colour can indeed be a reality. The 2017 Kloof Conservancy’s Indigenous Open Gardens Show, which has been going since 1999, has adopted the notion as a theme for this year’s event which takes place across five Kloof, Hillcrest and Waterfall gardens from March 25 to 26.
Gardening enthusiasts, families and inspired creatives from all across the city are invited to visit the exquisite indigenous edens created by passionate homeowners.
The event is open to and suitable for all ages. It is also suitable for all kinds of weather too.
Not even a bit of drizzle should deter you – just dress warmly, slap on your gumboots and bring your umbrella for some rainy day wanderings – the beauty of such walks is a secret delight enjoyed by many a gardener
Children’s competitions include “information treasure hunt” at each garden (entry forms at the gates); plant experts at each indigenous garden will offer advice on indigenous gardening.
There will be an art display, plant sales, garden crafts, raffles with prizes and a tuck-shop with wors/chicken/salad rolls on sale.
