GSB&L’s Dean and Head Professor Theuns Pelser appointed as SABSA’s Vice-President
UNIVERSITY of KwaZuluNatal (UKZN) Graduate School of Business and Leadership’s (GSB&L) Dean and Head Professor Theuns Pelser has been appointed as Vice President of The South African Business Schools Association (SABSA).
The two-year tenure will see Pelser contribute to the Association’s mission of fostering strong ties with the business community, government and regulatory bodies. As well as the sharing of ideas and expertise between membership schools with the aim of developing business education in South Africa in line with international standards.
The Association’s membership comprises of 18 South African business schools including the UKZN GSB&L, UCT Graduate School of Business and GIBS to name a few. These member schools are responsible for nominating the vice-president.
In his new role, Pelser said his aim was to ensure the ongoing relevance and contribution of business schools to African economic and policy development.
“Business schools play a significant role in developing Africa’s leaders, in business and society. I look forward to working closely with my colleagues across the continent to ensure that our leaders of the future are offered a quality business education that is relevant and addresses the challenges specific to doing business on this continent,” he said.
The College of Law and Management and Studies Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Managay Reddi congratulated Pelser on his appointment and wished him the best in his new role.
