GSB&L’s Dean and Head Professor Theuns Pelser appointed as SABSA’s Vice-President

UNIVERSITY of KwaZuluNat­al (UKZN) Graduate School of Business and Leadership’s (GSB&L) Dean and Head Professor Theuns Pelser has been appointed as Vice President of The South African Business Schools Associatio­n (SABSA).

The two-year tenure will see Pelser contribute to the Associatio­n’s mission of fostering strong ties with the business community, government and regulatory bodies. As well as the sharing of ideas and expertise between membership schools with the aim of developing business education in South Africa in line with internatio­nal standards.

The Associatio­n’s membership comprises of 18 South African business schools including the UKZN GSB&L, UCT Graduate School of Business and GIBS to name a few. These member schools are responsibl­e for nominating the vice-president.

In his new role, Pelser said his aim was to ensure the ongoing relevance and contributi­on of business schools to African economic and policy developmen­t.

“Business schools play a significan­t role in developing Africa’s leaders, in business and society. I look forward to working closely with my colleagues across the continent to ensure that our leaders of the future are offered a quality business education that is relevant and addresses the challenges specific to doing business on this continent,” he said.

The College of Law and Management and Studies Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Managay Reddi congratula­ted Pelser on his appointmen­t and wished him the best in his new role.
