Much to change in SA besides name

-

I GET so very angry when I read things like the mayor wanting to change the logo of our city (who will benefit from this – I can’t help feeling that someone is going to gain something from it) and the guy who wants to change the name of our country.

We are South of Africa – so why not just leave it at that – after all, it had nothing to do with apartheid which is blamed for everything wrong in this country. Don’t get me wrong. I hated apartheid and all it stood for and thought it was diabolical the way black people were treated to say nothing of coloureds and Indians.

Don’t these people and many, many others like them realise that there are children in this country who suffer every day? The hungry ones and the ones who have to walk kilometres to get to a school because there is no transport for them.

I would gladly donate to a fund to get buses for these children – but it would mean a huge effort and it is much easier to worry about changing a logo and the name of the country. No effort is needed for that at all.

Then there are the “teachers” most of whom are not even qualified to teach. The little children sitting in the open under trees because there aren’t classrooms for them – I could go on and on about these children who aren’t the offspring of the fat cats of the country and who have to suffer while people in power come up with more and more daft suggestions.

People want land. Well here’s an idea. Raze to the ground all the buildings like the Union Buildings, city halls etc, that were designed by white people and built under their supervision, and give the land to the ANC who can then do what they will with the land. The Union Buildings is used by the ANC for all sorts of functions but there is such a lot of land there – if it were razed to the ground what a lot of land they would have to play with!

The children of this country pay dearly for these people who don’t give a damn about them and are busy doing ridiculous things as well as lining their pockets with ill-gotten gains.

Let all these loonies get together and do something constructive for all the children first – then they can go ahead and do their own stupid things. J LESLIE Durban
