Mugabe has held South Africa hostage

-

CAN anyone explain to me why Zimbabwe holds South Africa hostage? Zimbabwe is a despotic little country and South Africa a significant one, and yet, after the Grace Mugabe debacle, Zimbabwe hijacked SAA jets and held them hostage to get back the female criminal first lady Grace Mugabe. Excuse me?

If we still lived in apartheid times I guarantee Mrs Mugabe would be in a South African jail and the SA Defence Force would have gone in and freed SAA and its passengers from Zimbabwe. This is post-apartheid and yet South Africa, a once-proud nation, has bowed down to Zimbabwe and grovelled before Mugabe. Why?

Is it because South Africa no longer has a defence force or is it that Jacob Zuma did not want to hurt his relationship with Robert Mugabe and instead threw Gabriella Engels under the bus to save face? Gabriella deserves justice for what happened to her.

It doesn’t matter if she partied with Grace Mugabe’s sons, what matters is that Grace Mugabe destroyed Gabriella’s career as a model and should be held accountable for it.

Claiming the young girl had a knife and was drunk and disorderly are all lies Grace Mugabe committed to try to get out of her predicament. I don’t know why Grace Mugabe bothered to lie. Unless she plans on returning to South Africa to live in her ill-gotten new R45 million mansion. She may have got diplomatic immunity, but this will not blow away.

South Africa needs to make sure she no longer comes back, and they need to sell Mugabe’s new house and give the proceeds to Gabriella Engels. GENIE DRISCOLL Durban North
