TUNISIA’S TENNIS STAR

MOSCOW: Tunisian qualifier Ons Jabeur became the first North African and Arab player to reach a WTA tennis final. But her fairy tale run came to an end when Russia’s Daria Kasatkina won 2-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4 to claim the Kremlin Cup title.

The victory denies the Tunisian qualifier a slice of history. She is already the first player from her country to reach a WTA final, but Jabeur was hoping to go one better in the championship match to claim her maiden title. | African News Agency (ANA)

SIMON’S SON HIS SAVIOUR

SIMON Cowell admitted he was on the brink of walking away from his showbiz empire – until he was saved by his son Eric, 4.

“I was getting close to that point. There was so much to deal with and I was exhausted,” he said. The turning point came last October, when low blood pressure and stress left him in hospital after he fell down the stairs.

Cowell moved to Malibu, ditched his cellphone, gave up Twitter and stopped watching TV news. | Mail On Sunday
