Many views, but one leader keeps silent

- EBRAHIM ESSA |

THE ongoing massacre, genocide and wanton destruction, using every conceivable mode of killer-equipment possible (but the ultimate nuclear one) in Palestine has clearly showcased, on a full, wide- screen panorama scale, the various and diverse behavioural reactions of individual people, collective crowds, countries, religious leaders, institutions and of even complete continents.

Myriads of changing-faces, making-faces, spewing hate, different versions, different visions all coming from different directions.

All rushing to take sides. Some for the US. Many for Israel. Few, at first, for Hamas- infected Gaza.

Resolutions at the UN ever vetoed by the US and its comrades-in-arms. Many countries vying for Zionists. Condemning Hamas, ignoring the blatant massacre of tens of thousands of innocent women and children. Most stuck on the single track record: “Israel and its right to defend itself. Hamas hiding behind Palestinians.”

As the drama rolls on, more opinions change. Some countries suddenly become aware of the fear of Israel being finally found guilty of genuine genocide, and begin to back-pedal. Mainly to avert complicity when all this murderous mayhem is finally over.

Almost every country, every leader, every individual has an opinion regarding this inhuman crisis. Only one saintly person says nothing. Remains aloof from all base human emotions Not even a “no comment”. Refuses to take sides.

And therefore clearly shows obviously whose side he is really on, as more and more bodies pile up in Gaza.

No time to waste on frivolities. Busy with implementing selective CAA laws. Sanctioning demolition of mosques.

Encouraging shutting down of religious rights of minorities. The Indian Prime Minister. Of a country that once showed the way to Ahimsa (non-violence) and true world peace.
