GREAT EXPECTATIONS!

- Kamcila PIllay

EXPECTANT moms and dads are in for a treat this weekend as baby expo MamaMagic comes to town. The event, at the Durban Exhibition Centre, promises to bring all things pregnancy and parentingrelated under one roof to help parents navigate their parenting journey.

“MamaMagic is a space to not only find the latest developments and products and shop to your heart’s content, it’s a dynamic space to learn more about the wonderful journey of parenting,” said founder and exhibition director Projeni Pather.

With hundreds of brands exhibiting, MamaMagic features internationally recognised exhibitors, giving parents access to exclusive and innovative pregnancy and parenting products or services.

“For the bargain hunters, MamaMagic brings value for money by providing show specials which are reason enough to visit the expo,” said Pather. “However, there are also other reasons.”

For the parents who are gathering and consuming as much information as possible, the expo provides a place to engage with some of the industry’s top speakers and gurus at the Huggies Experts’ Lounge.

“Here MamaMagic offers free, interactive expert talks to empower parents in their daily lives. Netcare is also on board to provide a free baby wellness clinic on site,” Pather said. registered dietician Megan Pentz-Kluyts will help moms conquer mealtime woes, and physiotherapist Shayne van Aswegan will talk moms through motor development in babies and toddlers.

Nateesha McCready of Wellness Mama Yoga will discuss the benefits of pre- and post-partum yoga, and Lisa Townend will demonstrate the value of baby massage.

Parents will also receive goody bags at these sessions that will include Huggies New Baby nappies for them to try with new “SoftAbsorb” technology. There will also be a Huggies Nappy Pants “Movers and Cruisers Play Area”.

“The area will have soft play equipment to entertain, teach and get kids active,” Pather said. “There will also be interactive moms and babes classes that promote active living.”

In addition, there would be a MamaMagic Theatre to keep the little ones entertained, she said.

“MamaMagic also brings you competitions such as the Pamper Baby on Board Competition, where the winner stands the chance to win an all-expenses-paid pregnancy valued at over R100 000.”
